WHERE IS HOME?
In a future of chaos,uncertainty,restlessness and anxiousness, where is home? Home can be people,objects,a city,a country or a space but it can also be a feeling of security, solidarity, comfort and connection. If home was a routine and thus, the sense of familiarity,how do we continue to seek “home” in such uncertain times and spaces?
From moving from country to country throughout my life or having family scattered in different parts of the world, I’ve always had more than one concrete place to call “Home”. Therefore home for me came in the form of “portable security”. Home to me is a suitcase, home is a flavour and home is also a phone and a video call. Home is also a protection,disguise,enveloping act or the presence of a person.
This project aims to explore series of familiarity or the elements that constitutes a “home”. But more specifically the concept of “portable security” when home,as a concrete place, is unavailable or unable to return to.
Created midst pandemic breakout, I’ve decided to display the outcomes for my final first year project
on Youtube, a platform that is “ home ” to me for a multitude of reasons.
